Pregnancy is the most awaited moment for many couples. For women, making sure whether they are pregnant or not is also important. This is because some women who are pregnant only find out about their pregnancy when they are already two months pregnant or more.
In fact, knowing pregnancy early can make expectant mothers and fathers take optimal health care of themselves. For example, knowing the nutrition needed by the expectant mother and doing a check up to ensure the health of the fetus.
For this reason, it is important for a prospective mother to know when and how to do the right pregnancy test. Generally, pregnant women will use a test pack, which is a tool to test positive or not pregnancy.
However, test packs do not always provide accurate results. It depends on when the inspection was carried out. For that, learn when and how to do a pregnancy test that is correct and appropriate.
The Right Time For Pregnancy Test
Usually people use a test pack as a tool to find out whether they are positively pregnant or not. Women will usually use a test pack when their period is late.
A test pack will test for the presence of "Hormone Gonadotropin" (GnRH). GnRH itself is a hormone produced by cell activity in the ovaries and testes.
GnRH is produced by a part of the brain called the hypothalamus. Furthermore, this hormone is carried along with the bloodstream to the pituitary gland in the brain. The concentration of this hormone will increase rapidly, until it doubles every 2 to 3 days during pregnancy. Test pack will measure the levels of these hormones.
Then when is the right time to detect pregnancy?
When your period is late is one of the signs that you might be pregnant. It is a good idea if you do a pregnancy test using a test pack, when your period is one week late.
Although at this time, there are many test pack tools that claim that they can detect pregnancy accurately from the first day of pregnancy. However, it is better if you wait for a delay in your period for one week. This is because, over a period of one week, the HcG hormone in the urine is getting higher, so that the test pack will detect it optimally.
When you are late for your period, you can already check to make sure whether you are pregnant or not. When you are late for your period, there are several supporting signs, such as the following:
- Spots or blood spots appear which usually lasts 2-3 days
- Abdominal cramps that are similar to PMS symptoms
- Changes in the shape of the breast, due to the production of the hormones estrogen and progesterone which have a greater amount during the early period of pregnancy
- Physical changes characterized by nausea, decreased appetite, weakness, frequent urination, and erratic mood changes
Experiencing signs of pregnancy, such as late menstruation, does not confirm that you are really pregnant. For that, identify the right time to do a pregnancy test.
It is best to do a self-test when you feel some of the signs of pregnancy as above. However, if you are not satisfied with the results you are getting, you can consult with your obstetrician, to confirm your current situation.
