The clitoris is often referred to as the key to female sexual pleasure. Researchers also argue that the clitoris is the only human organ that aims to provide sexual pleasure.
We need to learn first, what is the clitoris?
What is the Clitoris?
The clitoris is one of the sex organs in women. In addition, the clitoris is also an important part, especially in your sexual life. This is because, the clitoris is the part that becomes a source of arousal during sexual intercourse, which allows women to experience orgasm during sexual intercourse. The clitoris is part of the female reproductive system which is located between the labia minora and is covered by a fold of skin called the prepuce.
The clitoris has one function, which is to provide sexual pleasure to women. This organ is also a part that is sensitive to stimulation. For this reason, when this part is touched or stimulated, women will feel arousal and relax. This also makes women more excited and easier to reach orgasm.
Unlike men, women don't need to worry about sexual dysfunction that often occurs in men. This is because the function and physiology of the clitoris will not change, even though you are old.
Amount of Clitoral Nerves
In the past, the workings of the clitoris was a mystery that was difficult for scientists to solve. And until now, researchers did not know the exact number of nerve endings that can cause this sensation.
However, recently a study found that the clitoris, which has a small size, contains more than 10,000 nerve fibers. This was also revealed by one of the researchers, Blair Peters, where he was also surprised by the fact that something as small as the clitoris, has 10,000 nerve fibers concentrated in it.
In addition, Peters has also presented the results of his research at a scientific meeting of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America and the International Society for Sexual Medicine. Again for Peters and other researchers, the number of nerves present in the clitoris exceeded their expectations.
In previous research, researchers said that the clitoris has approximately 8,000 nerve endings. However, this number is believed to be based on research on animals, such as cows, buffaloes, and others, compared to humans.
The clitoris itself is an organ that has two symmetrical nerves, each of which has approximately 5,140 nerve fibers. The researchers then multiplied these numbers, and gave the final number of 10,281 nerve fibers.
In addition, the clitoris also contains other smaller nerves besides the two dorsal nerves. And chances are, there are many more nerves in the clitoris. Until now, researchers are still studying the nerves contained in the clitoris.
This can help minimize accidental nerve damage, such as during vaginal surgery. That way the patient's quality of life and sexual function are still maintained even when undergoing various procedures.
