How to Know Your Menstruation is Coming

Every month, many women will experience menstruation. Indeed, not all women have the same menstrual cycle. Since the cycles experienced are different, some women cannot predict and recognize the signs of an impending period.

Before menstruation, usually women will feel the signs before menstruation takes place. Although every woman has different signs, all women will feel some of these signs.

Although this often happens, if we do not recognize the signs of an impending period, it can interfere with our activities. For that, you need to know some of the signs that menstruation will come as follows.

Signs of Menstruation Coming

Generally, before menstruation comes, women will experience PMS or Premenstrual Syndrome. PMS usually occurs about 1 to 2 weeks before the onset of menstruation. During menstruation, these signs also disappear by themselves.

However, not all women experience PMS. This makes it difficult for them to predict when menstruation will take place. However, there are some signs of an impending period that generally occurs in women. Some of these signs are as follows.

1. Breast Pain

One of the signs of menstruation that is often experienced by women is the onset of pain in the breast. When touched, the breasts also feel firmer than usual. This condition occurs because prolactin tends to increase before the menstrual period.

However, you do not need to worry, this condition only lasts before the menstrual period, and will end when menstruation has taken place.

2. The Appearance of Acne

Often we hear complaints of women who are annoyed with the appearance of acne before menstruation. Actually, this is a normal sign.

The appearance of acne before menstruation is caused by increased levels of progesterone, thus triggering the production of more sebum. Sebum (oil) is what eventually clogs the pores, thus triggering acne on the face.

3. Stomach Cramps

Some women will experience cramping in the abdomen or lower back either before or during menstruation. Generally this condition occurs 24 to 48 hours before menstruation comes. This condition can also last for 3 days.

Abdominal cramps occur because the uterus is contracting. The process when the uterine lining sheds into menstrual blood can indeed cause pain and cramps.

However, you do not need to worry, because this condition will disappear during menstruation and usually only occurs on the first day of menstruation.

4. Increased Appetite

Without you knowing, before menstruation comes, your appetite will tend to increase. This condition usually makes you feel like eating something sweet, such as chocolate, candy, or fast food.

According to research from the International Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism states that increased appetite before menstruation is caused by increased hormones in women during menstruation. However, even though your appetite is increasing, it is a good idea to maintain a healthy diet.

    5. Mood Swing

Mood swing or erratic mood changes is one of the signs that almost all women experience before menstruation. In this condition, you will feel erratic mood changes, such as upset, sad, or happy, all in a short period of time.

However, this condition will subside during menstruation. When you experience a mood swing, it iss good if you do some activities that can improve your mood, such as meditation, adequate rest, and consume foods that can relieve these complaints, such as vegetables, fruits, and other nutritious foods.

      6. Easily Tired

One of the signs that menstruation is coming is the body that feels tired easily, even though it is not doing strenuous activities. This condition can be caused by several factors, such as hormonal imbalance, difficulty sleeping, and unstable mood changes.

As with other signs, this condition will subside during menstruation. However, to keep your body in good condition so you do not get tired easily, you can do regular exercise.

        7. Indigestion

Some women also experience indigestion a few days before menstruation comes. This may include common digestive disorders, such as constipation or diarrhea.

This indigestion occurs due to an increase in prostaglandin which can trigger contractions in the intestines. These contractions cause diarrhea and constipation.

          8. Bloating

Bloating can also be a sign that your period is coming. This condition can be caused by hormonal changes and the food you eat.

To prevent bloating, you should drink enough water, eat nutritious foods in small portions, and do not forget to exercise regularly.

The signs of menstruation above are not all experienced by women. Some women certainly have different signs, adapted to the condition of each body.

These menstrual signs are expected to help you prepare for your period. That way, menstruation will not hinder your daily activities.
