Can Young Pineapples Prevent Pregnancy After Intercourse?

Pineapples, especially young pineapples, are often associated with pregnancy prevention claims. It is believed that pineapple contains components that can inhibit the fertilization process between sperm and egg cells in the uterus, so that the possibility of pregnancy becomes low. In an effort to optimize the chances of pregnancy, many women who want to have children tend to avoid consuming young pineapples. However, is it true that pineapple has a pregnancy prevention effect?

Is It True Can Young Pineapples Prevent Pregnancy?

Have you ever heard about the claim that consuming young pineapple can affect your pregnancy or menstruation after eating young pineapple? It turns out, this kind of claim is just a myth. According to information from KlikDokter, there are no scientific studies or journals that support the idea that young pineapples can play a role in preventing pregnancy.

Until now, there has been no in-depth research regarding the potential impact of miscarriage that might occur if you consume a mixture of young pineapple and yeast in certain drinks. Even though it is a myth, it is still important to wash young pineapple with boiled water before consuming it to reduce the risk of bacterial growth.

Benefits of Young Pineapples

Although it is often thought that young pineapple has the potential to prevent pregnancy, in reality, there are many benefits that women can achieve from consuming young pineapple. What are these benefits?

1. Prevents Constipation

One of the great benefits of young pineapple is its ability to improve digestion. Based on studies conducted by the National Center for Biotechnology Information in the United States, the bromelain enzyme contained in young pineapple helps in more efficient absorption of food in the intestine.

2. Complete Vitamin and Mineral Content

Young pineapple is rich in various vitamins, including vitamin A, vitamin B1, B2, B3, B6, B9 (folic acid), and contains high levels of vitamin C. Apart from that, young pineapple is also rich in minerals such as iron, zinc, potassium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. However, it is important to limit consumption of young pineapple to a reasonable amount and not excessive.

3. Lowers the Risk of Depression

Young pineapple has benefits in improving mood and fighting the negative effects of free radicals on the body, thanks to its antioxidant content such as flavonoids and phenolic acids. It helps fight oxidative stress that can cause chronic inflammation, weakened immune system, and other serious illnesses. Apart from that, young pineapple also contains the amino acids tryptophan and serotonin, which are known to increase the production of happy hormones in the body.

Ways to Prevent Pregnancy Apart from Eating Pineapples

Compared to just relying on consuming pineapple, there are several methods that have been proven effective in preventing pregnancy according to medical guidelines:

1. Natural Contraception

To reduce the risk of pregnancy, you can avoid ejaculating in the vagina. Apart from that, the calendar method can also be used, namely by understanding the monthly menstrual cycle to determine the fertile period. Finally, another option is the lactational amenorrhea method, which involves exclusive breastfeeding for six months as a natural method that can reduce the chances of pregnancy.

2. Barrier Contraception

Using condoms during sexual intercourse is an effective method of barrier contraception. Another alternative is to use a diaphragm to prevent sperm from entering the uterus, or a spermicide containing the substance nonoxynol-9, which can kill sperm.

3. Hormonal Contraception

Hormonal contraception involves taking birth control pills, birth control injections, installing implants, and using an intrauterine device (IUD). It is important to undergo all of these procedures under the supervision of a physician to ensure optimal effectiveness and safety.

4. Operative Contraception

If you don't want to have children at all, surgical contraception may be an option. This method involves sterilization of the reproductive organs, with tubectomy for women and vasectomy for men as available options.

So, it can be concluded that pineapple does not have convincing scientific evidence in preventing pregnancy. On the other hand, pineapple is actually beneficial for expectant mothers who are preparing for pregnancy because it contains good folate. Apart from that, pregnant women can eat pineapple in the final trimester to help with the birthing process.

The possibility that pineapple has the ability to prevent pregnancy has not been supported by strong scientific research. Therefore, for couples who do not want to have children but are active in intimate relationships, it is recommended to use contraceptive methods that have been proven effective.

It is better to consult a doctor to determine the contraceptive option that best suits your needs rather than relying on pineapple as a solution to prevent pregnancy.

So remote villages in Asian and African continents have been using natural contraception like pineapple for millennia but because the west now insists there is no evidence behind such claims, the east, where two-thirds of our global population reside, must all be wrong. Yeah, sure.
